It’s probably a great place to pass out after a night at the pub downstairs. But not remotely relaxing after a long day on the road.
Pros: clean room, lots of parking, close to a market and the beach
Cons: floor shaking music starting after 10pm, absolutely no hot water, not even warm. Tap water isn’t safe to drink so if you’re thirsty get some at the market, the room only has 1 liter. Check in is done through the bar staff so other than trying to get the music turned down there’s not much assistance for anything hotel related.

We stayed for three nights at this lovely place, as my brother commenced his studies at St Andrews. The staff were really supportive and friendly, our room (#4) was clean and comfy, and there’s ample parking space behind the hotel. 100 meters away is a Co-op supermarket, and another 200 meters brings you to the beach and the train station. We’ll be back once my brother has completed his studies. Thanks for your hospitality!

Showers were really poor when we stayed as no hot work. Ended up using the facilities at carnoustie for ease and comfort

Nous sommes restés 3 nuits ici , je pense que ces gens n'ont aucune idée de la façon de tenir un hôtel. Les chambres étaient limites propres. Une vielle serviette était encore accrochée derrière la porte de la salle de bain.sur booking ils promettent un petit déjeuner traditionnel écossais compris alors qu'ils ne font absolument pas de petits déjeuner. Un soir nous sommes rentrés les radiateurs étaient mis à fond sur 30 degrés...
La patronne ,pas du tout aimable et très directive ! Pourtant habitués à voyager ,Nous n'avons jamais vu ça !
Très bruyant aussi , lesclients du pub crient dans rue jusqu'à 1h du matin, fenêtres pas isolées et route très passante.
À éviter !

A random choice for lunch turned out to be a great idea. Very friendly, good selection of beers, and super fish and chips. Dog friendly.

I’ve been going to this pub for years now and I’ve always loved it and thoroughly enjoyed myself everytime I visited, that was until the old manager rob left and everything went downhill after the new manager started.
I visited last night at about 7pm, went to the bar, got a drink, sat at my table, had a couple sips of my drink (VBL) and then proceeded to go to the toilet, while I was in the toilet doing my business a stranger started banging on my door (which obviously gave me a fright) asking if I was being sick, I can understand why she would have thought that as I have a chest infection at the minute and my cough sounds horrendous it sounded like I was being sick but I wasn’t, but why on earth is a stranger banging on my toilet door in the first place? A bit of privacy and peace would have been ideal and I wouldn’t have been sick as I only had a couple of sips of my drink, I was completely sober at this point. Everything was fine until about 9pm when the manageress decided to tell the male bar staff that was working behind the bar to refuse me drink as she said I had been sick? (Obviously referring to earlier in the toilet) male bar staff and manageress wouldn’t even let me explain myself, explaining to them that I hadn’t been sick and the male bar staff was having none of it, wouldn’t listen to a word I said, so rude and abrupt - both of them! didn’t believe me, refused me service even though they had literally been serving me all night with no issues? Absolutely ridiculous. So I basically got refused for absolutely nothing! Getting accused of something you haven’t even done is disgusting! Not a way to treat a customer, especially one that’s a regular from the area that has supported the pub for so long!!! Disgusting. Well done on losing a customer :)

Handy place to stay. Rooms were basic but really clean and comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being over a pub. Good price too. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing traditional pub roast dinner. Highly recommend for food and very dog friendly. Warm welcome and great service from the team.

Our room was not cleaned, and we ran out of bottled water (cant drink the tap water) and toilet paper. Otherwise it was a great place, very friendly.

Rooms were good clean and done the job, the bar selection was okay but not to my taste but the staff were excellent and friendly any questions I had where answered would stay again

Always enjoy a drink in here. Centre of Carnoustie so it’s good for largely wherever you are in the town.
Friendly bar staff and good variety of different beers and lagers. They also have an outside seating area around the back for when the weather is nicer.
They serve food although it’s been a while since I had it. From memory I had steak pie in the past and it was very good.
Saturday night seems to be when the young team come out - they’re all friendly enough but it does make you feel a bit old ha!
Atmosphere is generally pretty good. During the day there’s some light background music and sports etc on the tv. Later in the evening the music is turned up a bit.

Visited for Sunday bar lunch. Very quiet. Food freshly prepared and good quality. Service with a smile. Bar area clean and bright. Did not visit toilets or rooms so no comment on them.
